In SimpliPlan, users can add niches, holes and material areas into the plan in a variety of shapes. Once a niche, hole or material area has been added to the plan it can then be edited.
Note: Niches, holes and material areas are easiest to add in 3D view.
In Room mode:
- Under Niches, holes, areas, located on the left side of the screen, left-click to select the desired tool. Niches and holes can be added as rectangular shapes, circles/ovals, or free drawn using lines. Material areas can be added as rectangular shapes or free drawn using lines.
Note: Left-click the arrow icon to see more tools. - With the desired tool selected, move the mouse over the desired surface, for example a wall, the floor or ceiling. The currently selected surface will be highlighted by a dashed red line.
Note: To deselect a tool, in the Tool control dialogue box, click the Undo/Cancel icon: - Left-click to select the start point for the niche, hole or material area.
Note: A preview of the niche, hole or material area is shown highlighted by a dashed red line. - Move the mouse to draw the desired shape and left-click again to confirm.
Note: If the user has selected the Add material area as lines tool, under Create line chain, in the dialogue box located a the bottom right of the screen, users can adjust the thickness of the line area by entering a new value in the Width field.
Users can now alter the shape of the niche, hole or area using the menus located on the right side of the screen, under the headings Positioning, Polygon, Niche and Hole.
Positioning
Under Positioning, users can adjust the location of the niche, hole or material area by using the icons or entering new values into the Space left, Space right, Space top and Space bottom fields.
Note: The Shift step length field determines the distance moved when using the Move selection up, Move selection down, Move selection left and Move selection right icons.
Polygon
Under Polygon, users can adjust the size of the niche, hole or material area in by entering new values into the Width and Height fields.
Under Polygon, users can also click the Edit polygon button. Using this tool:
- Users can left-click the measurements of the niche, hole or material area, shown in blue, and enter a new value into the box. Press Enter on the keyboard to confirm.
- Users can click and drag the points, shown as red squares, to alter the shape of the niche, hole or material area.
- Users can add new points by double-clicking along the red dotted lines that outline the dimension of the niche, hole or material area.
Note: Points can be deleted by left-clicking to select them and pressing the Delete key on the keyboard. - Under Tool control, in the dialogue box located a the bottom right of the screen, users can use the icons to Delete, Cancel and Apply the changes:
Niche
If the user is inserting a niche:
Under Niche, located at the right side of the screen, users can adjust the depth and tilt of the niche in the Depth and Tilt fields, and illuminate the niche with LED lighting by clicking the Illuminate niche (LED) switch. When the switch is active, the Light colour field is shown below. Users can left-click the field to alter the colour of the LED lighting.
Hole
If the user is inserting a hole:
Under Hole, located at the right side of the screen, users can adjust the tilt of the hole in the Tilt field.
