In SimpliPlan, users can draw platforms or add pre-defined platforms in a variety of shapes to add to their plan.
In Room mode under Platforms, located on the left side of the screen, there are two types of platforms that can be added to a user's plan; drawn platforms and predefined platforms. Once they are in the plan, they can then be edited.
Note: Platforms are easiest to add in 2D view.
Drawn platforms
Drawn platforms can be drawn freely, as a rectangle, or with lines. Under Platforms:
- Left-click to select the desired tool.
Note: Left-click the arrow icon to see more tools. - With the desired tool selected, move the cursor to the starting point and left-click to set the start point, shown as a red square.
Note: To deselect a tool, in the Tool control dialogue box, click the Undo/Cancel icon: - Move the cursor to draw the desired shape and left-click to confirm or double-click when finished.
- When using the Draw platforms as lines tool, users can enter a new value in the Width field in the dialogue box at the bottom right of the screen.
Note: The outline of the platform is highlighted by a dashed red line. - Users can now alter the position and dimensions of the platform using the menus located on the right side of the screen, see Positioning and Platform.
Predefined platforms
Predefined platforms are available in a variety of shapes. Under Platforms:
- Left-click and hold to select the desired shape.
Note: Left-click the arrow icon to see more pre-defined shapes. - Drag and drop the desired shape into the plan.
Note: To remove an unwanted platform, left-click to select and press the Delete key on the keyboard. - Users can now alter the position and dimensions of the platform using the menus located on the right side of the screen, see Positioning and Platform.
Positioning
Under Positioning, users can adjust the location of the platform by using the icons.
Note: The Shift step length field determines the distance moved when using the Move selection up, Move selection down, Move selection left and Move selection right icons. The Rotate step length field determines the degrees rotated when using the Rotate selection left and Rotate selection right icons.
Users can also access additional options under the tabs:
- Under the Positioning tab, users can adjust the height of the platform by entering new values into the Space top edge and Space bottom edge fields.
- Under the Rotation tab, users can use the icons to rotate and tilt the platform. If the platform is tilted, the Put in upright position icon returns the platform to the default position.
Note: The Rotate step length field determines the degrees moved when using the Rotate selection left, Rotate selection right, Tilt left, Tilt right and Tilt forwards icons. - Under the Size tab, users can adjust the dimensions of the platform by entering new values into the Scale fields; Width, Height and Depth. Users can also left-click the Keep proportions switch to retain the platforms current width, height and depth ratios. Click the Reset scale button to return the platform to its original size.
Note: The Size tab is only available for rectangles. - Under the Type tab, users can click the icons below Choose the wall measuring type, to select different measurements to be displayed.
Note: Measurements are only visible in 2D view.
Platform
Under Platform, users can adjust the dimensions of the platform by entering new values into the Height, Length and Width fields, click the Save as favourite button to save the platform to Inventory > Favourite > Platforms, and click the Use platform bottom switch. When active, the base of the platform is aligned with the floor and any material beneath, for example tiling, is removed.
Users can also click the Edit shape button. Using this tool:
- Users can left-click the measurements of the platform, shown in blue, and enter a new value into the box. Press Enter on the keyboard to confirm.
- Users can click and drag the points, shown as red squares, to alter the shape of the platform.
- Users can add new points by double-clicking along the red dotted lines that outline the dimension of the platform.
Note: Points can be deleted by left-clicking to select them and pressing the Delete key on the keyboard. - Under Tool control, in the dialogue box located a the bottom right of the screen, users can use the icons to Delete, Cancel and Apply the changes:
