In SimpliPlan users are able to use a Bluetooth laser rangefinder or laser measuring device to enter wall measurements. For more information on which devices are supported, see Which Bluetooth laser rangefinders are supported?
Connecting a Bluetooth laser rangefinder
With SimpliPlan open:
- Click the Laser measuring device icon, located at the bottom left of the screen:
Note: Users should ensure their Bluetooth laser rangefinder is powered on and the Bluetooth connection is on. Users should also ensure that their device has Bluetooth connection enabled.
- In the Available laser measuring devices field, click the name of the user's Bluetooth laser rangefinder to connect.
Note: It may take a minute until the user's device is found.
Using a Bluetooth laser rangefinder
In Room mode:
- Under Room shape, click to select a predefined room layout with the correct number of walls.
Note: Tap the arrow icon to see more options. - Selecting a new predefined room layout will automatically select the Edit walls tool, under Walls.
- Left-click a wall measurement, displayed as blue text.
- Use the Bluetooth laser rangefinder to measure the length of the corresponding wall. Once made, the measurement will be automatically entered into the selected measurement field.
- Once the first measurement has been entered, the next wall measurement clockwise (to the right) will be automatically selected for input from the user's Bluetooth laser rangefinder.
Note: Users can override this selection by selecting a different wall measurement. - Once the user has taken all the required wall measurements with their Bluetooth laser rangefinder, they can further edit the floorplan, for example by entering the wall angles.
