In SimpliPlan, users can enter wall area view, or surface view, to see a single surface in a 2D view. For example, walls, floors and ceilings. This function is also useful for adding a niche, hole or material area to a sloping ceiling. For more information, see How to add niches, holes and material areas.
Entering wall area view
In any mode:
- Enter 3D view by clicking the View 3D icon:
Note: When in 3D view, the icon will read 2D. - Using the camera controls, orient the 3D view to face to desired surface.
Note: For more information, see Camera control in Keyboard shortcuts. - Click and hold the View 3D icon and move the mouse over the desired surface.
Note: The currently selected surface will be highlighted by a dashed red line. - Release the left mouse button.
The view will change to a 2D view of the selected surface.
In Room mode:
- Left-click the desired surface.
- Under Room, if the selected surface was the floor or ceiling, or under Wall, if the selected surface was a wall, in the menu located on the right side of the room, click the Enter wall area view button.
Adjusting wall clearance
When in wall area view, users can use the slider, located at the top of the screen, to adjust the wall clearance. At a shorter distance, some objects may not be entirely visible, or the user may see a cross section of them.
