In SimpliPlan, when laying tiles on a surface, users have access to several menu options. These include Tiling area, Tiling technique, Positioning, Properties of main tile and Save tiling as favourite.
Parameters
Under Tiling technique, located on the right side of the screen, under the Parameters tab, users can:
- Alter the offset of the rows of tiling by clicking the Running tiling field and selecting Right, Left or Random offset pattern.
- Adjust the offset of tiles, by entering new information into the Offset, Offset (%) and Offset (width/x).
Note: The above options apply when using the Rectangle tiling technique, selected under the Tiling technique tab.
- Change the number of rods by entering a new value into the Number of rods field.
- Alter the width of rods using the Rod width field(s).
Note: The number of fields for Rod width corresponds with the value entered in the Number of rods field. - Randomise the width of rods by toggling the Random rod width switch.
- Specify the minimum and maximum length of rods by entering new information in the Minimum length and Maximum length fields.
- Randomise the appearance of rows by toggling the Random row switch.
Note: The above options apply when using the Bar mosaic tiling technique, selected under the Tiling technique tab.
- Adjust the width of tiles by entering new information in the Tile width field.
Note: The above option applies when using the Hexagon or Octagon tiling techniques, selected under the Tiling technique tab.
Tiling Technique
Under Tiling technique, located on the right side of the screen, under the Tiling technique tab, users can alter the pattern used to lay the tiles by clicking the Tiling technique field and selecting one of the options; Rectangle, Herringbone, Bar mosaic, Hexagon or Octagon.
Note: Altering this setting will change what fields are available under the Parameters tab.
Border (wall tiles)
Under Tiling technique, located on the right side of the screen, under the Border tab, users can add or remove border tiles to tiling laid on walls by clicking the Border type field and selecting None, Top edge, Bottom edge, Mounted top edge or Border.
Selecting one of the options may make more fields available, such as:
- Adjusting the width of the border tiles by entering new information in the Width field.
Note: This field becomes available when using the Top edge, Bottom edge and Mounted top edge options. - Adjusting the space of the border tiles by entering new information in the Space field.
Note: This field becomes available when using the Mounted top edge option. - Adjusting the layout of the border tiles by toggling the Continue in right angles switch.
The default layout of the border tiles is 45°.
Note: This field becomes available when using the Border option.
Note: For information on applying edging or end strips to tiling, see Adjust end strips.
Border (floor and ceiling tiles)
Under Tiling technique, located on the right side of the screen, under the Border tab, users can add or remove border tiles to tiling laid on the floor or ceiling by clicking the Border switch.
Toggling the switch to on will make more fields available:
- Adjusting the width of tiles by entering new information in the Width field.
- Altering the position of the border tiles from the edge of the tiled area by entering new information in the Space field.
- Adjusting the layout of the border tiles by toggling the Continue in right angles switch.
The default layout of the border tiles is 45°.
