The Cut hole function is used for inserting washbasins and sinks in a base unit or worktop, but what if you want to place your basin partially, for example into boxing or a bulkhead? For this you can use the Edit shape function to trim around the basin after drawing your platform.
Note: to make partial cuts in base units, the manufacturer's object will need to be adjusted first. See Adjusting units to make a cut for your washbasin for more details.
Below you can see where the platform has been drawn and a basin has then been placed. The platform clips through the basin, but if you use the Cut hole function it cuts through the platform because it treats the platform like a base unit.
Instead, you can use the Edit shape tool to correct the line of the platform. Take the following steps:
- Click to highlight the wall the platform is next to and select Enter wall area view. It will be easier to edit in 2D view.
- Click to highlight the platform and click Edit shape. Scroll to zoom in on the basin if required.
- Double-click on the dotted line to the left and the right of the basin to create new snap points. The new snap points will appear at the half way point of the line. Drag each point close to the side of the basin.
- Double-click in-between the first two points to create more snap points. The intention is to move the points around the curves of this basin, so in this case, several are needed.
- Drag the points around the shape of the basin. Once complete click the Apply tick in the bottom right.
The shape will now be updated and cut around the basin.
